Terms of Use — Typer

Last updated: 2026-07-28

Typer is proprietary software. By downloading, installing, or using it, you agree to these terms.

1. Your licence to use Typer

Typer is not open-source software. Cooper Stillick retains all right, title, and interest in it, including all intellectual-property rights. Subject to these terms, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Typer.

You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, lend, or publish Typer or any part of it; modify, adapt, or create derivative works from it; or reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except to the extent that such a restriction is unenforceable under applicable law. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

2. The software is provided "as is"

Typer comes with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability — whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — arising from or in connection with Typer or its use.

3. What Typer is

Typer generates human-like keystrokes to type text you provide into an app or browser tab, with realistic pacing, occasional typos-and-corrections, and non-linear revision. It is a dual-use tool. It makes no claim to defeat, evade, or fool any specific detector, plagiarism checker, proctoring system, or originality service, and no such outcome is promised or guaranteed.

4. Your responsibility for how you use it

You are solely responsible for what you type and where you type it. You agree not to use Typer to:

  • break the law, or facilitate fraud, forgery, or impersonation;
  • violate the academic-integrity, honor-code, or examination policies of a school, university, certification body, or employer;
  • violate the terms of service or acceptable-use policies of any website, platform, or application you direct it at;
  • misrepresent authorship where a true representation is legally or contractually required; or
  • harass, defraud, or harm others.

Whether a given use is permitted is your determination to make and your responsibility to get right. If you are unsure whether an intended use is allowed in your context, do not use Typer for it.

5. The Pro AI tier (hosted)

The "AI shape audit & rewrite" is a paid Pro feature. When you use it, the text you select is sent to Typer's hosted service, which forwards it to Anthropic's API on your behalf and returns the result; that model processing is additionally governed by Anthropic's terms and policies. Pro is licensed per the purchase terms shown at checkout (including any usage limits), the service is provided on the same "as is," no-warranty basis as the rest of Typer, and access may be suspended for a license used in breach of these terms (e.g. sharing, abuse, or a chargeback). See Privacy Policy for exactly what the service receives.

6. Third-party components

Typer bundles third-party open-source software (including Electron, nut.js, and mammoth), each of which remains under its own licence — those licences cover their components, not Typer itself. The Chrome extension uses the Chrome DevTools Protocol via the browser's debugger permission.

7. Changes

These terms may change; material changes will be noted in CHANGELOG.md. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
